We never receive your Instagram data

Followback compares your Instagram export in your browser. The export file and its contents are not uploaded to Followback’s servers. The website loads typefaces from Google Fonts, uses Vercel Web Analytics for page-view statistics, and sends a Pro license key to Followback’s server when you activate or re-check a subscription; the server sends that key to Gumroad for verification. Instagram export contents and usernames are not part of license verification or analytics requests.

What is stored on your device

If you choose to save follower history, lists of follower usernames from your exports are stored in your browser’s local storage. This supports the unfollower and History features. Accounts you mark as Kept or Unfollowed, saved history, and your Pro license key are also stored locally. The most recently loaded export data is kept in this tab’s session storage to let you move between pages without loading it again; session storage is normally cleared when you close the tab. You can use “Forget everything stored on this device” on the checker or clear this site’s browser data to remove locally stored app data. Browser backups, extensions, or device-level tools may have their own access to data stored by your browser.

Pro license verification

When you activate a license or its periodic online re-check is due, your license key is sent over HTTPS to Followback’s license-verification endpoint, which forwards it to Gumroad to check purchase and subscription status. The endpoint does not receive your Instagram export. A successful check returns a signed, time-limited token so Pro can remain available offline for a limited period. Followback does not store the submitted license key on its server as part of this verification flow.

Payments

Gumroad processes purchases and payment details under its own terms and privacy policy. Followback may receive purchase-related information such as your email address and order details from Gumroad. We do not receive your full payment card details or your Instagram export through this process.

Analytics and advertising

Vercel Web Analytics is enabled to measure page visits. It is configured as cookie-free analytics and may process page-view metadata such as the page visited, referring site, approximate country, and browser information. See Vercel’s privacy documentation for details about its handling of analytics data. Followback does not intentionally send export contents, follower lists, or usernames to analytics. Advertising is currently disabled for all users.

Your Instagram account

Followback never asks for your Instagram password and does not follow, unfollow, read messages, or change anything on your Instagram account. You load an export that you download yourself.
